(I took this the other morning while watching the sunrise on the beach)
My phone was broken. My computer crashed. I had to move out of my apartment. I was broke. That was my life three weeks ago. Saying I was stressed would be a huge understatement. I immediately began to feel hopeless. Why was all of this happening? When it rains it truly does pour! While feeling sorry for myself, I thought of a quote I had heard about a year ago. It says:
“Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one”.
As soon as I remembered that quote, it was like a light switch went off in my head. Instead of sitting around being upset and down, I started thinking of all the positive aspects of my situation. The first thing I came up with was how much I was enjoying the silence. Not having a computer or laptop really allowed me to go back to my first two loves, which are reading and writing. I read some great books this past month! Books that I probably wouldn’t have found the time to read otherwise.
Having that much time to think also allowed me to figure out how to turn a particular passion of mine into a business! I don’t want to share too much just yet, but I have posted a photo at the end of this post to give you all a little hint:)
Having to move out of my apartment, helped me realize how unhappy I was living in the current town I’m in. It also help me remember that the move here was never meant to be long term in the first place. I’m super excited to be moving again, now it’s just a matter of figuring out what city my business would do best in. I’m debating whether or not to go back to Miami or maybe back to NYC. Atlanta is a possibility and so is Austin. This negative experience helped me realized how blessed I am to be at that point in my life where I’m still able to pick up and go ANYWHERE!
My computer crashing gave me the push I needed to save for an iPad. The iPad has everything I need for both my current business venture and my blog.
Speaking of blogs, do you remember the Savannah fashion blog QUI style that I was picked up by. The writer of the blog contacted me recently to let me know my photo was featured in The New York Times for their Fashion&Style section. They loved my oversized red clutch! You can see the photo here New York Times Fashion&Style .
I hope this post leaves you feeling as excited as I am about the future! I can’t wait to catch up on all of your blogs. I have a feeling I’ve missed a lot!
Cheers to looking ahead! Happy Monday!

Sometimes God has to strip us of everything we were in order for us to become everything we were meant to be. I am sending you positive energy and please keep us all posted on your adventures!
Hey Stephanie! Thanks so much for the kind words! And I couldn’t agree with you more!
Great post. Sorry to hear about all that has happened, but it is great to realize and appreciate all the wonderful things happening (and will happen in the future). I can see why they featured you in the fashion section, I love your clutch too! And my boyfriend just bought me an iPad for our anniversary and I love it!
Thanks for commenting! Sounds like you have a very sweet boyfriend!
Great post here dear. Hadn’t been back since the one about advising your 20year-old self. Anyhow, enjoyed reading this. It is not easy to remember to be positive when everything seems to be against us!
Thanks Nifti!
Great words to live by, I enjoyed the post.
Nothing really negative happens in life. Just like there are no accidents.

Thank you Alex Alex!
Oh, Austin is wonderful. I haven’t read enough of your posts to know much about you, but I had to give my former home a shout-out. 🙂
Lol if only I had found your blog three weeks earlier, I could have picked your brain about Austin. We thought long and hard about moving there! We decided Miami is the best bet for us now, but I’m hoping to make it to Austin sometime soon!
Oh, Miami will be an incredible chapter. If and when you make it to Austin, shoot me a note and I’ll let you know which restaurants and spots are must-see.
Thank you! That would be awesome!
Love this. It hails to the book I’m currently working on titled “Failures to Blessings: Finding the Silver Lining.”
When a person can find the opportunity, the blessing, in what has gone wrong for them, their lives become both adventurous and momentous.
Keep up the attitude, the forward movement, and this new adventure in your life.
I’ll have to check that book out! Thanks for commenting!
I’ll announce when it will be released, but that won’t be a while yet.
